Panel of Lawyers — About the Engagement

RefundJet is building a panel of licensed legal practitioners to support airline claim engagements across Nigeria. Our in-house team manages claims day to day — formal demands to airlines and regulatory escalation included — and refers matters that warrant court action to panel lawyers. As a panel lawyer, you act for passengers pursuing ticket refunds and delayed or cancelled flight compensation in litigation and dispute resolution.

Engagements are assigned on a claim-by-claim basis. You remain in control of your caseload and work directly on matters referred to you through the RefundJet platform, with the claim file, documentation and passenger details provided for each engagement.

Case assignments may be made with regard to the state where the company files the case and the state of residence of the lawyer. Panel members may therefore be engaged only for matters within the states where they reside or are able to appear before the courts and regulators concerned.

What Panel Lawyers Do

Litigation Referrals

RefundJet's in-house team resolves claims directly with airlines and regulators. Matters that warrant court action are referred to panel lawyers as ready-to-file cases.

Court Proceedings & Arbitration

Initiate and conduct court proceedings, arbitration or settlement negotiations on referred matters, under an engagement letter issued per claim.

Group & Pooled Claims

Act for groups of passengers with claims against the same airline arising from the same disruption event or systemic practice.

Legal Advisory Support

Provide the RefundJet team with legal opinions on passenger rights, airline obligations and litigation strategy under Nigerian law.

Who Should Apply — Panel of Lawyers

  • LL.B and B.L, with active enrolment at the Nigerian Bar.
  • Current practising certificate and good standing with the Nigerian Bar Association.
  • Demonstrable litigation or dispute-resolution experience; exposure to aviation, consumer protection or transport law is an advantage.
  • Strong court advocacy — clear, professional pleadings and submissions.
  • Ability to take on engagements per claim, with reliable turnaround on assigned matters.
  • Membership of a law firm or independent practice with capacity to appear before Nigerian courts and regulators.

Payment Terms

Payment terms are agreed as per each individual claim's engagement. The scope, professional fees and payment schedule for every matter are set out in the engagement letter issued for that specific claim before work begins — there are no blanket retainers or fixed panel-wide rates. Engagement letters are issued in the name of the panel member or firm assigned to the matter.
